Our latest outing - Goldings CL, Suffolk

Posted by MARY Cattel on

Whilst we tend to use our blog for information about our canopies, as caravanners we would like to share information about our own travels on this blog as well.

This weekend we headed to a lovely little part of Suffolk called Stonham Aspal. After a horrendous journey down that detestable A14 (why this road does not have 3 lanes I will never know)!, we arrived at Goldings CL site and instantly began to unwind from another busy week at work. Nothing compares to that feeling of setting up the van for the weekend, knowing you are home again in that special place. No cooking - fish and chips from the local shop in Stowmarket, yum!

Saturday, we got up early to make the most of the sunshine and do as much as possible in our short break. We had a visit first thing from a lovely couple local to the area that came along to look at a canopy in situ. It was so nice to meet them. As an online store, we dont get to meet many customers so it was a real pleasure to chat with them and be able to show them the canopies workings.

We headed out to Flatford Mill and had a lovely walk. There is something for everyone, a small 20 minute walk or a 2.5 hour ramble and of course the famous National Trust tearoom. It really is a beautiful spot and you can see why Constable was so inspired to paint his famous picture - The Haywain.

In the afternoon we took a trip to the coast to Southwold. How had we never been here before?? Beautiful sandy beach, lovely little shops, and plenty of places for a cold Adnam beer for Richard. What's not to like :o) It must be one of the few seaside towns that has managed to retain its absolute charm.

Back to the caravan for dinner on the Cadac, scrummy kebabs and homemade ratatouille. Saturday night entertainment consisted of 3 rounds of our favourite game, Ingenious. If you havent come across it, its a super little game, we are highly addicted. Basking in the evening sunshine, we played happily under our sun canopy.  I left Suffolk as champion which is most unusual and extremley satisfying.

Sunday morning after a quick scoot round the local car boot, we packed our bags and dismantled our Arco canopy (in minutes I must add) and took to the dreaded A14. Thankfully it was a lot kinder to us today than our journey down.
